Palestine and Egypt – two countries that early Bible Students were particularly interested in. Why these countries? Palestine was the area where much of biblical history took place. It was the land where the temple was in Jerusalem. C. T. Russell expected the nation of Israel to be restored in Palestine. He could visit Palestine in 1891 and 1910. His successor J. F. Rutherford traveled after 1910 also in 1920 to Palestine. The very rare photo album from 1920 made by the Watchtower Society photographer William D. Soper is shown in this documentation. The second country was Egypt. Here stands the Great Pyramid of Gizeh, near Cairo. The Bible Students believed that the Pyramid was God's stone witness in Egypt. They saw a perfection in this building and believed they could calculate the “end of times“ from the length of the inner corridors. Russell visited the Pyramid in 1891, 1910 and 1912, Rutherford in 1910 and 1920. The color photos of the Pyramid of the scientists John and Morton Edgars are also shown in it. Read more
